HILTON-PARMA EMERGENCY FOOD SHELF NEEDS YOU AND CAN HELP YOU!
Did you know that there is a very active emergency food shelf in the Hilton area? It is staffed by a very energetic group of volunteers and is there to help all who need it all year. The food shelf accepts donations from local churches and the community in general. It is also affiliated with FOODLINK which allows it to purchase staples for a reduced price. If you are interested and able to donate, please check your donations to be sure that they have a current expiration date, as outdated food cannot be accepted. Some examples of needed donations are: hot cereal, pancake mix and syrup, crackers, peanut butter, jelly, hash or stew, soup, rice, canned meat or fish, assorted canned fruit, complete bakes (meat included in meal) and paper goods. Please call 234-2090, leave your name and telephone number and a volunteer will call you back to set up an appointment.
If you need food, please call the same number to set up an appointment to pick it up. Summer can be an especially difficult time for families in these tough economic times, so please do take advantage of this opportunity. The volunteers are very careful about privacy and confidentiality to make your experience as positive as possible. There will be some basic school supplies available at one of the Hilton churches later in the summer, ask about this program at the food shelf.
